NINFA Z. BITO is a freelance photographer based in the Philippines. She was self-taught in photography and eventually took on formal training in Paris where she met and assisted Georges Fevre, a former director at Paris's Pictorial Lab (PICTO), and personal printer for Henri Cartier-Bresson, Robert Doisneau and Josef Koudelka. She then apprenticed with a commercial photographer San Francisco concentrating on studio and location photography. She also attended the Santa Fe Workshops facilitated by Charles O'Rear, a National Geographic photographer.
In commercial photography she has extensive experience shooting interiors, food, products, portraits, fashion, editorials/lifestyle. Her work has been published in local and international publications such as:
Ninfa then transitioned into documentary photography and photojournalism covering disaster relief, humanitarian, environmental, health and social issues. In July 2005, she was one of four photojournalists awarded a grant by the Panos/Stop TB Media Fellowships to document tuberculosis in the Philippines. In 2010 she presented a one-man exhibit entitled "On The Surface" at the Greystone Gallery. In 2012 she participated iin a group exhibition entitled "Connectados" at the Ayala Museum.
